Going to Grantham

Today Isaac and I went into Grantham after lunch to purchase his tie for school. We also bought breakfast for tomorrow since we will be leaving before the cafeteria opens. We found the cereal selection pretty interesting. Isaac settled on Curiously Cinnamon and I am having Oat So Simple (instant oatmeal). We found 0.1% milk at the store. It was pretty funny - I can't say I have ever seen milk with this % of fat :)

At this moment, the main thing I am struggling with is the UK keyboard. There is a pound sign, of course, and no dollar sign. The pound sign is not in the same place as the dollar sign, however, and the @ is where the shift and enter key on the right side of a US keyboard is. Also, the enter keys are not as large, so I keep hitting all sorts of wrong keys while I type in the faculty office. In addition, the spell check is set for British spelling of words - so words like color are corrected to colour - and so on. It definitely keeps me on my toes!

Isaac Newton was born in Grantham and attended King's School (the school that Isaac will attend). Here is a picture of a statue of Isaac Newton that is in the town square.

It was a beautiful day to shop and walk through Grantham.

Today in class we watched a video about the NHS and had a good friend of mine come talk about the NHS. The students are fascinated with the differences between the American and British healthcare systems. It will be interesting to see their perceptions about healthcare change as the semester progresses. Again, I can't help but feel blessed that we are here - life is good!
